Camera Obscura is not only the ancestor of photography and cinema (all lens-based media) but also has served as an invaluable tool of countless applications throughout history, in physics, astronomy, philosophy, painting, biology and war.
Three of the images in this publication are re-drawings of historical images of the principles and applications of camera obscura in different fields. Alhaze’s studies (11th century) of the optics of camera obscura played a critical role in his discoveries of the workings of humans’ sight system.
This work was made for Woodstone Kugelblitz Take Over project (Groningen), as an issue of L’intolerant newspaper.
