WALK 3 : Colonial Legacy of Zeeland

Date: 22 September 2024
Time: 15:00
Location: Limestone Books, Maastricht

The project WALK aims at transforming and healing the pain, wounds and rage of facing oppression, in particular racial oppression, using collective walking meditation.

What do we do with the pain, hurt and trauma of racial oppression? What about the rage and grief that we carry in our hearts as a result of being exposed to systemic racism as well as microaggressions on a daily basis?

As the third iteration of the project WALK at Sarmad, this workshop relates the practice of walking meditation to resisting, transforming and healing racial oppression.

A publication is made for this particular workshop, which presents ideas about how to walk (in meditation) and also explores the colonial connections of the city of Maastricht as well as Limburg as a province with significant support for the far-right.

We begin with reading and engaging with the publication, then we open a discussion with the audience, go on a 40-min collective walking meditation and come back to sharing and discussion.
