“The Wild Plants” is a publication produced alongside Monireh Askari’s work So Many Diamonds, So Little Time for Fictioning Comfort. The work draws a parallel between the (colonial) processes of extraction and land and capitalist extraction of human resource in cognitive labor. It draws an analogy between agricultural processes and the performance of a cognitive worker. While the work, at least on aesthetic levels, highlights the side of cognitive labor, the publication is focused on the side of land. It shows a series of observant and intimate photographs of wild plants growing on various lands, as a way to think through the comfort that emerges in the cracks of exhausting control.
