caterpillars and spiders
by Zela Odessa Palmer ︎︎︎i am not a pessimist or an optimist
nor a realist
perhaps a surrealist
a likelihood of me being a dreamer
scrap that
definitely a dreamer
a floater too
drifting from thoughts to dreams
slipping in and out of reality, rationality
give me an impossible proposition
i will ponder on it
longer than necessary
floating just above humanity
just my luck
tethered to earth by an invisible string
so thin it barely adheres to earthly laws
call me an illusionist
i have been tricking everyone
making them believe there are any connections
between me and the grounds i walk on
let them believe
as caterpillars and spiders alike
i create and weave my threads
trapping all that comes along
spinning
spinning
spinning
again and again
lacking wings or a cocoon
stuck in the air
while paradise takes shape below me
